IDEAS Foundation - Tuples

Tuples relate Things (i.e. individuals, types or other tuples). Theoretically, tuples may have any number of places – i.e. they may relate any number of things. However for practical reasons (esp. the mapping to RDF) the IDEAS ontology allows for tuples with upto five places:

In the majority of cases, the tuples used are binary, hence the IDEAS model has couple which is a tuple restricted to have only two places (the restriction is specified in the RDF).
